Don Heichert - Chief Engineer
Don has been in the broadcast business for over 30 years. There is not one piece of gear on the planet that he can’t fix or build. Don has worked on many world class events such as World Cup Skiing, CFL on CBC and many others. Don has wired and has maintained all the equipment at BPI for over a decade.
Donna Blackman - VP / Operations Manager
Donna is a founding director of BPI and handles the daily studio business, from scheduling, to making sure clients are happy. You can be sure if you need something she will handle it for you. Donna also makes great coffee.
Perry Blackman - Owner / Re-recording Mixer
Perry loves to make noise .. he’s a drummer. He can be found in BPI’s Studio “A” which houses a ProTools HD3, an expanded Pro Control with surround panning and many other toys. Perry has been mixing for over twenty years and has been nominated for many industry awards including multiple AMPIA awards, ARIA engineer of the year and a Golden Shief. Some of Perry’s clients include Discovery, Teletoon, Family Channel, Super Channel, Alliance Atlantis, Movie Central, Gabriel Films North, CBC, GRB Entertainment, Panacea Entertainment and Anaid Productions.
Keith Zink - Re-recording Mixer
Keith plays guitar, bass and just about anything else that will make noise. He resides in BPI's Studio 1, which houses a ProTools HD3, a Digidesign Pro Control and many other toys. Keith has been a mixer with BPI for over a decade and in his spare time he mixes live sound for local rock bands. Keith has been nominated by AMPIA for best overall sound. You can hear keith's work on most major networks including Super Channel, Teletoon, Family Channel, Discovery Channel, Life Network, History and many more.
Brett Ardiel - Re-recording Mixer
Brett was born and raised in Wharncliffe, Ontario and has always had a keen interest and passion for media and technology, which led him to pursue an education in the field of audio engineering. He attended the Centre For Arts and Technology in Fredericton, New Brunswick; and completed the Recording Arts Foundation Program, as well as the Recording Arts Masters Program. After completing his education he worked as an audio engineer for Mission studios in Sudbury, Ontario. Brett is now happily living in Edmonton and even more thrilled to be a recent addition to the Blackman Productions roster. Some of Brett’s clients include Super Channel, Gabriel Films North and CTV.
Keith Blackman - Sound Effects Editor
Keith was born into the business and has been hanging around the studio pretty much from the time he could walk. Keith is a drummer like his dad and loves to make noise. Keith makes sure the studios are set up every morning and ready for session. He also makes sure all our clients are happy and have everything they need. If you need Keith you can find him in Suite 3 working on sound design or hanging with one of our engineers assisting their session.
Al Lamden - Re-recording Mixer
John A. Lamden (Lamden Audio) spent 32 years at CBC Edmonton as Senior Recording Engineer. Most of these years were spent in production, drama, classical, opera, jazz and variety programs. During his career with CBC and Edmonton Variety, they produced almost 3 dozen record albums and CD's for in-house and commercial release. He won best opera recording awards for “Salome” and “Attila” He was nominated for 3 Juno Awards and won the award twice, he also won 2 ACTRA awards and numerous Canada Music Council Awards. Since 1998, he has done both private and contract audio engineering work including CD's, live television, audio post production and radio production work for music, variety and sporting events. His television audio work has included programs such as The Huron Carol with Tom Jackson, The Aboriginal Awards and various documentary and sports programs He has also worked on World Reknown video games such as “Jade Empire”. Larry MacDonald - Location Recordist / Mixer
Larry MacDonald (Mac Sound) has been a sound recordist for the last 15 years. He has traveled to many remote locations, from the tropics to the high Arctic, he is not afraid to tough it out in extreme locations. Larry has provided sound for some of the largest companies such as Alliance Atlantis, Great North, Cineflix, History Channel and Discovery. When Larry is not out in the field recording, he can be found in one of BPI’s edit suites cutting backgrounds and sound effects. Gerry Clarke - Location Recordist / Mixer
Gerry Clarke has been swinging boom, mixing and recording sound for picture for over 15 years . He has experience on large film / commercial sets to small ENG / Documentary shoots and Television series productions. His audio kit consists of a full 4 track time code film package with a Cooper CS-108 for film production as well as a Sound Devices rig for run and gun documentary shooting . He also has a good selection of Schoeps , Sennheiser and Neumann mics that he loves to use. He is also a musician, playing bass in local party band “ The Flyin’ Saucers” .
